Juxtapositions: A New Podcast on Change, Leadership, and What Comes Next

The world probably doesn’t need another podcast. But at Juxtapose, we spend our time building companies with experienced executives and founders — people who’ve already led teams, scaled products, and navigated more than a few turning points in their careers. Those conversations tend to go beyond the usual startup chatter. They’re about leading through generational market shifts, career arcs, reinvention, and the lessons learned along the way. So, we decided to start recording them.

We're excited to share the first two episodes of Juxtapositions, a series of conversations where members of our Concept Development, User Research & Design, and Talent team get to sit down with friends and business leaders — from CEOs to investors, operators to founders — who’ve navigated major transitions and unpack how they managed change, what they learned, and what advice they’d give others doing the same.

Our first guest is Julia Austin, an entrepreneur, board member, investor, and former operator who has led both startups and large organizations through change. Since she and Juxtapose Partner Steve Herrod worked together at VMware, she's gone on to be the CTO of Digital Ocean Inc, spent over a decade on the faculty at Harvard Business School teaching and creating several entrepreneurship courses, joined a few startup boards, and founded a nonprofit organization that supports founders who identify as women (https://www.goodforher.co/). She recently published a book, After the Idea, about creating and scaling startups.

Our second guest is Andrew Rubin, Founder and CEO of Illumio. Juxtapose partner Steve Herrod met Andrew over a decade ago when he was first building what would become the category leader in ransomware and breach containment. Over the last decade, Steve and Andrew have worked together as Board member and founder, redefining how organizations contain cyberattacks and enable operational resilience along the way. Their conversation dives into:

- The latest challenges in cybersecurity

- The pros and cons of being early

- Why categories are created by customers not vendors

- The enduring importance of relationships- Submarines... and more!
